From the presentation on Ubuntu by the guest lectures, the significance of leadership styles and traits came into discussion and from this discussion a direct link exist between Ubuntu and leadership which I noted. One cannot lead without understanding the followers; furthermore leadership is not about using others, but working together with others towards a common goal. Another important point which has been mentioned, is giving room for self-introspection in order for adequate decisions to be made, one needs time to solve problems individually. The concept of Ubuntu is very complex and diverse and its practice does not only exist in Africa, but within the whole globe it varies from nation to nation. Even though it may not be the same when cultures are within the same arena, drawing back from colonization and other forms of oppression, Africans in some sense do not show Ubuntu but forced respect towards Europeans. Same as Europeans with their fake smiles towards Africans, Ubuntu amongst African and European does not really exist. Same as it is dying amongst African to African. But with subjects such as social innovation which are not focused at developing Africans to fall under the working class system, Ubuntu can still be recuperated when the by-products of this subject go out to assist in society, and be transformational leaders. Not be driven by greed and self- empowerment.
